Drug Treatment is available in Nebraska
Citizens in the state of Nebraska are faced with a major drug problem in their state and need help immediately. The popularity of club drugs and pharmaceuticals continue to be a concern to law enforcement and to local communities. There is a perception among users that these drugs are “safe” to use. Oxycontin is widely available throughout Nebraska and “pharming” parties are becoming popular among junior high and high school students, where controlled pharmaceuticals are traded and abused. According to the National Survey of Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) data, approximately 32,000 Nebraska citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year. According to the Office of Justice Programs Drug Court Clearinghouse and Technical Assistance Project, approximately 53.9% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in Nebraska had committed drug offenses and more than 60% of the drug cases involved methamphetamine. It is obvious that citizens and communities in Nebraska are suffering from drug addiction but are not getting the help they need and deserve.
